Dear Tom Gohring's School of Tai Chi, I began taking Chi Gung in January at Tom Gohring's school. My boyfriend at the time, (who teaches Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Orlando), encouraged me partially to check out Tai Chi, and see what it was all about. My only knowledge of the Art, was that it is a base for other martial arts, including Kung Fu, it seemed like a peaceful and spiritual Art Form, and of course the images, of old Asian people doing the forms on grass. I began the class, and immediately loved it and enjoyed the classes, but my impatience in the first few months, was urging me to advance to the next level quicker. I was impatient and thought I was ready. After visiting the next level class, I realized I was not ready, and the best thing for me, was to continue in the Chi Gung class. The month is now September, and for other personal reasons, I was unable to advance to the next level until now. This year has been interesting to me, after a major car accident in July, my second in the past 6 months, I luckily walked away from the crash injury free again, and my vehicle was close to being a total loss. During the whole month my vehicle was being repaired, I was not consistent with attending class, and this was another reason I have not moved to the next level. The year is ending, but it is also turning around, and looking better for me I am ready to begin the next class level and looking forward to learning the new postures and poses I have seen other students and peers practice. Almost a year now of taking Chi Gung class twice a week has really helped my body, mind and spirit greatly. Learning the 5 Hearts, saying them and practicing them outside of class has continued to help me exist as a positive person, and live righteously in this world. Faith, that I have chosen the right Art. Respect, for the teacher I am following. Perseverance, to stick with it for a long time. Patience, to know it takes awhile to get good at anything. Humility, to know once you are good, you can still get better. Thank you Kade Green, Connie, and Tom Gohring, and to the other instructor 'assistants, who were at almost every class, walking around, and helping me perfect the pose. Greatly Appreciated! Sincerely, Alexa H. |
