Dear Sifu Gohring:
The physical benefits of T'ai Chi are most obvious and easlily spring to mind. Not only strength, balance, and co-ordination, but an understanding of how I gained them, how I use them, and how they inter-relate, this understanding may be the most valuable aspect of my education.
Then there are the emotional benefits: the joy and satisfaction of learning. The progress from posture to posture. The happiness of linking two together in one fluid movement. And then the guidance and explanations to enlighten me as to the meaning of the postures and their application.
Mentally, I have learned discipline. In the classroom, receiving instruction. At home, practicing alone. Accepting the journey and acknowledging its length. Patience.
You has given me all of this in less than two years and I am eager to gain more in the next two.
Sincererly,
Robert L.
